Hi everyone!

Hope your long weekend was fantastic and you were able to spend quality time with your family! Although some companies might be feeling the pain from not having much snow around, JuNK iT! is certainly enjoying the fair weather. We all managed to get outside for a bit and either skate or toboggan with our loved ones. Some of us even took advantage of this great weather by organizing our garages and homes! Feel like beating the summer rush and ordering a junk removal service? Then give us a call at 416-531-5865 or visit us at www.junkit.ca to book with us now.

Keeping up-to-date with the latest social media networks is something JuNK iT! prides itself in doing. We love keeping social and interacting with our customers on as many possible sites. The latest sites that are causing quite a buzz around them are Pinterest and Gentlemint. Both have similar concepts in that they are somewhere between visual social bookmarking and scrap booking. Pinterest seems to have a larger female audience while Gentlemint has a larger male audience. With the appearance of these new social networks we might be witnessing a slight change in social networking where smaller communities centered around similar interests are beginning to develop. It appears people are no longer caring that there are 850 million users on Facebook (other than advertisers) and appear to be shifting to these smaller sites that add value to their interests. Businesses have a new challenge ahead of them by recognizing this shift and participating where possible. Do you have any plans of participating on these sites? If so, what approach will you be taking?

Junk Removal: Not Just for Hoarders or Construction Companies

We have received a few calls this week from people concerned that they may not have enough junk for it to be worth their while and that they might just wait until they accumulate a huge pile of garbage before they request a bin service. But, you don’t have to wait that long!

Using a junk removal service does not necessarily mean that you have to hoard your junk before you call us. If you want to get rid of a couple things to make your life clutter free, we can do that for you! Our full service is perfect for single item junk removal or if you have small amounts of garbage you wish to get rid of. If you want to go for a bin rental, we have four different bin sizes that you can choose from; 5, 10, 15 and 20 cubic yards. The sizes of the bins are all the same length and width with the only varying factor being the height. Respectively our bin heights range from 1.5 ft, 3 ft, 4 ft, and 5 ft high. We can either drop a bin off so you can fill it yourself (self service) or we can come to your location and do it for you (full service)! Whichever service you choose to use, we will make sure it is hassle free! Call us now at 416.531.5865 or book online at www.junkit.ca.

Christmas Organizing Ideas

I will admit that up until last weekend my Christmas tree still decorated my living room. I also found out that I wasn’t the only one reluctant to put it away. Sure it makes your living room look wonderful and festive. It has this warm glow that you wished you could have all year round. But although we love our Christmas decorations and the happiness they provide us, in reality we don’t want to take them down because it’s too much of a hassle. There isn’t enough space in the closet, garage or furnace room to shove all the decorations because they are already over-flowing with boxes. What to do?

First of all I found that getting rid of some of those old boxes is the best way to start. It’s not the most motivating idea I have ever had but getting rid of stuff you don’t use and making space for stuff that you do use is rewarding in itself. I was browsing styleathome.com one day and came across some wonderful ideas on how to organize your Christmas decorations and store them away properly. I cleared out the mess that was my closet, put up some shelving, bought some clear storage containers with dividers for every single ornament and got to work. The end result was fantastic. My closet was organized and because the containers were clear I knew what the contents of each one was. This even inspired me to make the rest of my house look the same way. So if you end up cleaning out your closets, furnace rooms or garage and find you need a junk removal company be sure to check out our prices at junkit.ca where we can help you make this process a hassle free one.

Explosive Demolition – The Best of 2002

It’s getting colder outside and I’m losing my will to dress up warm like a Michelin man so instead I laze around on my couch on the weekends and flick through YouTube videos. So it was really only a matter of time before I discovered an amazing demolition video that shows the best building implosions of 2002. It’s incredible how they place the explosives at the right points in order for the building to collapse in on itself without wrecking anything next to it. Most of the buildings are in populated areas and it’s mind blowing (no pun intended) to witness such perfection. Has anyone witnessed a demolition? How do they perform the clean up? I’m thinking it would probably take about 100 JuNK iT trucks to even make a dent! I hope you enjoy the video.

Fun Fact of the week: The two factories of the Jelly Belly Candy Company produces approximately 100,000 pounds of jelly beans a day. This amounts to about 1,250,000 jelly beans an hour.

Fort York Food Bank gets a makeover from ET Canada

The Fort York Food Bank is an amazing program that helps provide the basic nutritional needs to families who are struggling. Their programs consist of providing a three-day supply of groceries to low income families, counseling for resolving any issues, a drop-in center with a kitchen, internet access and clothing as well as skills training classes. What the Fort York Food Bank represents is hope to those less fortunate. This message is definitely important this season, so to help spread this message of hope, Shaw Communications and ET Canada united to renovate their location. They were able to get donations from far and wide, including new appliances from Future Shop and junk removal from none other than ourselves. The before and after was incredible to witness as they gutted out the place and put in new appliances and decorated the room. It was an amazing episode to watch getting everyone into the Christmas spirit. If you would like to donate to the Fort York Food Bank you can do so here at http://www.fyfb.com/donate.asp.
